Tucked away in the Sierra Nevadas is a magical retreat center and temple waiting to welcome you home…
The Land
Honey Moon Farm is 30 diverse acres in Grass Valley, CA. Rolling fields, a 3-acre swimming lake, a mountain, an orchard, greenhouses, meandering hiking trails, an annual creek, and multiple frog ponds weave their way among the trees of the land.
Take a stroll, and you’ll find geodesic domes with hammocks, aerial silks, and aerial swings; a trampoline begging your inner child to come play; apples fresh from the tree; kayaks, stand-up paddleboards, and floaties to explore the lake on; and coming soon, our wellness area with hot tub and sauna.
Many animals call this land home: geese, ducks, deer, squirrels, chipmunks, mice, raccoons, turkeys, turkey vultures, red-tailed hawks, woodpeckers, robins, snakes, great-horned owls, bullfrogs, frogs, and more. We live in harmony with all life here, and you may regularly run into one of our more-than-human neighbors as you take a walk around the land.
The Temples
The Water Temple
Our 30’ ceremonial yurt, the Water Temple overlooks the frog pond, where you may hear the bullfrog and Great Horned Owl sing to you at night. Includes comfortable floor seats for 30 people, pillows, and new soft, warm blankets. Screened doors and windows and a dome that opens for ventilation. Wood-fired stove being added soon! Just steps from a dedicated ceremonial bathroom with indoor plumbing.
The Fire Temple
Our sacred fire circle, ringed with volcanic stones. Home to Tatewari, Grandfather Fire. Right next to the lake in a large, open clearing. 30 people can easily sit around the fire, and the clearing can fit many more for songs, prayer, or talks. Includes use of all-new 30 Mexican blankets and yoga mats as well as 20+ chairs.
The Wind Temple
Atop Mount Olive, the mountain that spans almost half the land, among scattered oak, madrone, manzanita, and fir trees, rise ancient boulders. Nestled on this mountaintop is the Wind Temple, carrying prayers to the snow-capped mountains to the East. A place for quiet reflection, offerings, and rituals. A hiking trail weaves its way up, and for those with mobility needs, an off-roading golf cart is available.
The Earth Temple
Coming soon, a Temezcal is being built on the land as a gift from our Wixarika wisdom keeper and teacher. The Earth Temple returns us to the dark, warm womb of Pachamama. A place for prayer, song, and offerings, and purification.
The Heart Temple
The altar to the meeting of the heart of Pachamama with the heart of Father Sky. The place where duality melts into unity. The whole of the land holds this prayer, and every place you wander tends this prayer: a bench on the far side of the lake, the willow tree along the water, the elderberry tree the fawns and doe live underneath. May your heart know you belong on and to this land, always.
